Three-word response shows Sutton was taken aback by Gerrard's title comments after claiming Celtic are "in the driving seat"

Chris Sutton appears to have been taken aback slightly following Steven Gerrard’s post-match comments on Wednesday.

Rangers fell 10 points behind Celtic following their 2-1 defeat to Killie, with the Hoops running out comfortable 5-0 winners against Hearts, who have also beaten Gerrard’s side this year.

Following the defeat, Gerrard claimed his players crumbled under the pressure at Rugby Park, and Sutton responded on social media.

Sutton sounds surprised by how honest Gerrard’s response to the loss was, with the Rangers boss questioning the mentality of some of his players and admitting Celtic are in the driving seat in the title race, two minutes into the video shared by Sutton.

You’ve got to look at the form of other people, who are relentless right now. We keep going, we keep trying to change the situation we’ve put ourselves in and we’ll see how it goes from game to game. But there’s no denying that they’re obviously in the driving seat.

It’s hard to disagree with Gerrard here, as Celtic’s strong, winning mentality has been evident for all to see following the winter break, whereas Rangers’ hasn’t.

The Hoops appear to have used the pain suffered following the defeat to Rangers in December to come out the blocks in 2020 firing on all cylinders, having won all eight of their fixtures so far this year, in all competitions.

Rangers, meanwhile, have not shown that same hunger and desire, emphasised by how they’ve lost two of their eight games since the turn of the year.

Celtic have now given themselves an advantage in the title race as Gerrard says, with the 10-point gap a significant difference between the two sides.
