Former Scotland defender Alan Hutton has not absolved Celtic’s summer signings of blame for the team’s 0-2 defeat at Livingston last weekend.

He told Football Insider: “I think the new signings should know what it’s about now.

Everybody knows, around the world, Celtic are a massive club, you’re expected to win week in, week out, no matter if you’re playing on a plastic pitch just round the corner, it doesn’t matter, they’re expected to win.

“They should know by now, they’re professional footballers, they’ve played at a high level.

However, speaking to Football Insider, Hutton had no sympathy for the newer players in Celtic’s line-up and said that anyone coming to the club should be aware of the expectation to win, even on plastic pitches such as that at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

They’ve had long enough to settle in so I think this could possibly be a wake-up call for them.” When looking back on Celtic’s defeat at Livingston, perhaps Hutton is having a go at the wrong players, as some of the recent arrivals were among the Hoops’ better performers on the day.

Speaking after the game, Hoops manager Neil Lennon said that the team’s first Premiership defeat of the season was “a learning curve” for those who had only come to the club this year, as per BBC.
