For any given Celtic question, whether it’s favourite player, goal, game, title triumph or derby win, there is no definitive answer. Every fan has their own particular choice and the reasons for that are as varied as the choices.

In saying that, the Celtic View team have decided to tackle some of these topics and will be putting forward a case for their particular choice. Among the topics will be favourite Glasgow derby win, a player I wish I had seen play, top European night at Paradise and Hampden highlight.

The View team of Paul Cuddihy, Joe Sullivan, Tony Connelly and Joe Donnelly will be battling it out for your vote because we want fans to get involved via the View’s Twitter feed @celticview

The first topic up for discussion is favourite domestic goal scored by Celtic and you can tell us your favourite via Twitter. And once you’ve read – and heard – the View team’s choices, you can also vote for which one of the four you agree with.

So kicking off this series, Celtic View editor Paul Cuddihy explains why one of Henrik’s 242 Celtic goals is his favourite domestic goal…

GOALSCORER: Henrik Larsson
GAME: Celtic 6-2 Rangers, August 27, 2000

‘If I close my eyes, I can picture it as if it is happening in real time, and when the ball nestles in the back of the net, I still get goosebumps. It really was, is and always will be that good a goal.

While older than some of my Celtic View colleagues, I’m still way too young to have seen what I guess might really be the greatest ever Celtic goal in domestic football – Patsy Gallacher’s mesmerising dribble and goal in the 1925 Scottish Cup final victory over Dundee at Hampden. Henrik’s goal in the 6-2 demolition derby still runs it a close second.

There are so many goals to choose from – some because they are brilliantly executed, others because of a sentimental attachment to the game or the goal.

Henrik’s goal is, for me, perfection. The combination with Chris Sutton to set up the goal was a sign of what would become a brilliant striking partnership, but it was what Henrik did then that remains with me … shrugging off Tugay, nutmegging Konterman and then chipping Klos… goosebumps.

It was as if Henrik was controlling time, and while it was all over in the blink of an eye, as he reached the edge of the area and produced the world-class finish, it felt as though everything slowed down and he had all the time in the world to put the ball in the back of the net.

It still feels that way when I watch it now… always with goosebumps.’
