CELTIC’S Scottish Cup quarter-final tie with St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park will go ahead on Sunday, March 1 with a 3pm kick-off.

Neil Lennon's side booked their place in the last eight of the competition with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Clyde at Broadwood Stadium on Sunday past, the goals coming from Olivier Ntcham, Scott Brown and Bayo. St Johnstone, meanwhile, beat Ayr United 2-1 at Somerset Park on Saturday.

The Hoops, who have won the Scottish Cup for the past three seasons, recorded a 3-0 Premiership win over the Perth Saints at McDiarmid Park at the end of last month, with goals from Ntcham, James Forrest and Leigh Griffiths.

Hoops skipper, Scott Brown said: “We were up at McDiarmid Park a few weeks ago and played really well. Tommy’s got them well drilled, though, and they’ve managed to get a few good results. It’s always going to be hard, it always is at quarter-final stage, but we’ll look forward to it when the game comes around.”

Celtic Assistant manager, John Kennedy added: “The draw is tough. At this stage in the competition, it’s always going to be a tough tie. You’d rather be at home, but St Johnstone has been a place of late that’s been good for us in terms of results.

“Every game is different, but, again, we approach every game with the right mentality to, first and foremost, get a result.”
