Ex-Aberdeen man Ryan Christie scored the only goal of the game to seal Celtic’s seventh straight trophy under Brendan Rodgers in the Scottish League Cup final.

Rodgers will know all about Woodburn’s talents from his spell as Liverpool manager and will know exactly what the 19-year-old could add to his forward line.

After a poor start to the campaign, winning the league cup will be another massive confidence booster for a side who have rediscovered their mojo in recent weeks.

With pace and expert dribbling ability, Woodburn would add another dimension to the Celtic offence and allow Rodgers to rotate his key players.

The youngster will be desperate to get regular game time under his belt, and a reunion with Rodgers in the SPFL could be just what he needs.

However, Aberdeen were unable to find an equaliser and Celtic lifted the trophy for the 18th time in their history.

It took until the stroke of half-time for the deadlock to be broken in the fiery affair, with Christie beating goalkeeper Joe Lewis on the second attempt.
