Chris Sutton has some harsh words for the SFA after they let Alan Power and Paul McGinn off the hook for weekend challenges on opponents, as reported by The Daily Record.

Both offences looked like red card incidents, but action was not taken retrospectively by the SFA compliance officer.

Everyone in the country could see McGinn was a clear red card.

Fans from almost every team have taken issue with it this season, a sign that either incompetence is rife at Hampden, or the current guidelines for punishment are not clear enough.

Power went into a challenge on Rangers’ Ryan Jack with a high boot, catching him in the face, while McGinn hit Dundee United opponent Cammy Smith with an elbow while trying to win the ball.

You can’t tell me he wasn’t recklessly endangering an opponent going in with his boot at head height like that.

Sutton taking them to task like this will only increase the pressure on it being fixed and we should be calling out the failure to protect players in Scottish football at every opportunity, even when it does not involve Celtic.
