Celtic manager Neil Lennon is planning to have discussions with winger Scott Sinclair this week about his role at the club.

Last week, Football Insider reported that Sunderland were planning a deadline day bid for the player after he was given permission to leave Celtic, but he ultimately remained with the Scottish champions.

Sinclair has gone from being an integral player at Celtic in the last three seasons to being left on the fringes this term.

Whatever the reasons for Sinclair’s sudden downgrading of his role at Celtic, Johnston has seized his opportunity to become the team’s most effective and prominent left winger in recent weeks.

[via] Since Sinclair last played for Celtic against Motherwell on August 10th, Lennon has added another left winger with the loan signing of Mohamed Elyounoussi from Southampton.

Celtic fans, do you think Sinclair should regain his place in Lennon’s first choice line-up or has Johnston nudged ahead of him?

[via] Fellow left winger Mikey Johnston has taken advantage of Sinclair’s banishment to the fringes of the action at Celtic by making eight starts and two substitute appearances, scoring three goals (0.3 per game) and clocking four assists (0.4 per game).
