It is up to the hierarchy at Celtic to ensure they react in a positive manner, and the correct signings, both on and off the pitch, are brought in quickly to get the supporters back on side, and to restore the positive energy that surrounded the club prior to Tuesday’s exit.

Celtic need to bounce back quickly, however.

How many signings do Celtic need to make before the deadline?

It’s no secret that Celtic’s shocking Champions League exit at the hands of CFR Cluj on Tuesday has left supporters extremely unhappy – and rightly so.

A tactical tweak, a lack of investment, a lack of a long-term strategy; the list is endless as to why Celtic crashed out at home to the Romanian champions.

And while the decision to start Christopher Jullien and Boli Bolingoli on the bench did emphasise the need for Celtic to strengthen before next month’s deadline, those tactics on Tuesday played a big part in the loss.

Whether the Northern Irishman was trying to make a point to the board by starting two of his new summer signings on the bench on Tuesday, and essentially say ‘What you’ve given me isn’t good enough and I have to play Callum McGregor at left-back;’ making that statement in a game of such importance is not the right time.
