Hibernian player Darnell Johnson has been banned for two matches for a challenge on Celtic star Emilio Izaguirre, with the Edinburgh side having their appeal rejected this week, as reported by BBC Scotland.

Coming on as a second half substitute during last week’s meeting between the two sides at Celtic Park, Johnson dived into a heavy challenge on the Honduran, who required a stretcher to be taken off the field.

Fortunately the injury was not as bad as first feared, with the left-back in line to start tomorrow night’s UEFA Europa League encounter at home to Valencia.

Having been cited by the SFA compliance officer last week, Hibs chose appeal the decision, which was rejected upon further review on Tuesday.

The decision has left Hibernian fans fuming, many of them feeling officials in Scotland are inconsistent when dishing out punishments both on the field and at Hampden via video evidence.

These supporters took to Twitter to share their thoughts… No point in holding out any hope of @HibernianFC standing up and speaking out against this decision.
