Wolves showed no sign of fatigue after their short off-season by scoring twice in the first six minutes to set up a 2-0 win at Sheffield United in their Premier League opener.

Sheffield United, who surprised many by challenging for the European places last season, came closest when midfielder John Fleck drove an effort against the post in the second half.

Back in action in little over a month, Wolves looked lively and could easily have won by more.

"This is the first official match we've had and everybody was waiting to see the response of the players and that is what pleases me more," said Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

"We knew, it is clear that Sheffield will start fast and the message was, 'Let's start faster'.

Raul Jimenez, who scored 17 times in the league last season, sidefooted home a powerful shot from Daniel Podence's cross to put Wolves ahead in the third minute.

Romain Saiss doubled the lead three minutes later, meeting a left-wing corner from Pedro Neto with a firm header beyond goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
