Neil Lennon has confirmed that Celtic have opened discussions with James Forrest over a contract extension.

The 28-year-old is already under contract until 2022 after signing a deal last September, however, the Hoops are keen on handing the star another extension in a bid to fend off potential Premier League interest.

Lennon actually handed the Scot his Celtic debut back in 2010, with Forrest going on to be an ever-present in the side ever since.

The skilful winger has made over 340 appearances during his nine-year professional stay, scoring on over 70 occasions.

Forrest has won 17 major honours during his time with the club and has been tipped to become a one-club legend with the Hoops.

And Lennon, talking to the Daily Record, cited by Vital Celtic, revealed there have been discussions regarding an extension.

Forrest looks set to feature once again for the club in their Champions League qualifying against FK Sarajevo on Wednesday, with the Hoops taking a 3-1 advantage into the second-leg.
