Brendan Rodgers has explained that he turned down a £10million approach from Arsenal for Kieran Tierney just a week into his Celtic tenure in 2016.

According to the Express, via the Daily Record, Rodgers revealed he received an offer for Tierney in his first week as Celtic boss and it was down to him to “convince” the left-back to stay.

Rodgers’ decision to talk KT into staying was clearly a huge financial benefit for the club, who would’ve missed out on an additional £15million had the offer been accepted in 2016.

I really want to develop you and make you a better player’.

The left-back was a key figure for Celtic prior to his Arsenal move, and the former Celtic pair will meet on opposing sides for the first time in the Premier League this weekend when Leicester host the Gunners on Saturday.

Which former Celt will win this weekend?

The very first week I was there I was told that there was interest from Arsenal for around about 10 million quid.
