Ryan Christie has praised Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne following his performance against Scotland on Monday night, and his comments give Celtic supporters a reason to be excited.

According to Sky Sports, Christie labelled the midfielder as “class” before saying he looks up to the Belgium star as inspiration.

He is a class act. These are the kind of players that I aspire to. He is in a similar position to me. The positions he picks up and the way he hurts teams and his finishing as well. It is good for me. I want to test myself against the best teams in the world so it is a learning experience for me so hopefully I learn from it and move on.

While the result certainly was not what Christie would have been hoping for against Belgium, at least he had the chance to observe and learn from a De Bruyne masterclass up close and personal.

The City star was instrumental for Belgium in the 4-0 win over Scotland, assisting three and scoring the other as he stole the show at Hampden on Monday.

Christie’s comments emphasises his desire to learn from the best and take that experience into playing for Celtic, which can only be a boost for the Hoops.

The midfielder has been one of the standout players for Neil Lennon so far this season, and if he can replicate anything close to De Bruyne’s display against Scotland, then he will continue to be an incredible asset for the Celtic boss.
