Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes believes his side need to match their performance levels from the most recent meeting with Celtic in order to come away with something from this weekend’s clash.

Do you think Aberdeen will be Celtic's toughest test of the year?

According to the Dons’ official website, McInnes revealed the key for his side will be establishing a “balance between attack and defence” against Celtic, stating that his side need to perform in the same way they did at Parkhead earlier this season.

McInnes’ men took points off Rangers at the start of the month, so Sunday could well be Celtic’s toughest test of 2020 so far, with the Hoops having won all eight of their games since the turn of the year.

The Dons did test Celtic in the most recent meeting between the two sides, with Odsonne Edouard’s second-half strike proving to be the winner in a closely fought 2-1 win for the Hoops.

Therefore, it is understandable why McInnes is urging his players to reproduce a similar display on Sunday.

When you come up against a team with so many good players and attacking threats, for us it is about getting the balance between attack and defence.
