Hearts manager Craig Levein has admitted that this weekend’s clash against Celtic will be a phoney war, ahead of a more important Cup final next weekend.

And with both clubs likely to be focusing on the more important second game this week, Levein admitted he knows this weekend’s game isn’t important, when asked about whether he would try to wrong-foot Hoops manager Neil Lennon with his line-up.

The Jam Tarts will travel to Parkhead on Sunday, before playing the Hoops for the second time in a week the following Saturday in the Scottish Cup Final.

The young players will benefit from playing in this atmosphere, so it makes sense.

When I look at it, the benefits to the young players are obvious, whereas there are older guys who will benefit from more training time and one less game.

I don’t want to be sitting on Monday morning with any injuries, that’s also important – and I’m sure Celtic will be the same – but the game will be competitive because, they always are.

As reported by The Herald, Levein said: It is a bit strange.
