Celtic legend, John Hartson, has dismissed stories that claim the Hoops 2019/20 title success will be marked with an asterisk by hailing his former side’s achievements this season.

Speaking on Sky Sports (via the Daily Record), Hartson feels that there was only going to be one outcome if the league had resumed and been allowed to finish.

So what has Hartson said?

When asked if he felt that number nine would be regarded in a lesser light than the previous eight, he said:

“No, I don’t think so.

“I do feel that Celtic with that 13 point advantage, if we had got the resumption of the Scottish Premiership I think Celtic would only have extended that lead. I think they’d have widened the gap.

“Both teams went away at the turn of the year to Dubai, one team came back and dominated.

“Celtic were in scintillating form, Rangers lost a few games and hence the 13 point gap.

“So I do feel that Celtic have had a great season, they’ve only lost two in 30 games, they still had targets that they were looking to hit: they wanted to get to 100 goals, they wanted to achieve 100 points.

“Listen, it’s not ideal, but we’re not in ideal times. A decision was made that they were going to call it and they’ve given it to Celtic.”

So is Hartson correct?

Absolutely, the league table has been calculated using average points per game and in every total, Celtic come out on top, they were on course to potentially break a series of records and have been nothing short of formidable all season.

True or false, Hearts scored first in last season's Scottish Cup final?

Rangers had been stumbling from one disaster to the next and were dumped out of the Scottish Cup by a team with just four league wins all season, going from two points behind with a game in hand to 13 points behind in just six weeks – hardly the form of title contenders.

There is only one aspect of society not accepting Celtic’s title triumph and stroll to 9-in-a-row, and in reality, their opinion is as valued as their team is close to reducing the gap at the top of the league.
