UEFA have charged Lazio following alleged racist behaviour, with a hearing set to take place a week before Celtic host the Serie A side at Parkhead, and the outcome of said hearing could have an impact on the Hoops’ trip to Rome.

According to the Daily Record, Lazio could be set for a larger scale stadium ban than what was put in place for their group stage tie against Rennes last month.

The previous ban was also dished out following racist chanting by supporters, and the report suggests a larger scale ban or even a full stadium closure could be Lazio’s punishment this time around if the hearing finds them guilty.

A full stadium closure is a possibility according to the report, and that would be a huge blow for Celtic if that is the case.

The Hoops were in line to take a 9,000 strong travelling support to the Stadio Olimpico for the away tie in Rome next month, after being given a larger ticket allocation.

However, a full stadium closure would clearly rule that possibility out, and both sides will be eagerly awaiting the outcome of the hearing on October 17.
