JAMES Forrest put Celtic on their way to another Scottish Cup final appearance with a stunning first-half strike to give Celtic the lead against Aberdeen.

Further goals from Odsonne Edouard and Tom Rogic gave the Hoops a well-deserved 3-0 win, and Forrest was delighted with the result and performance.

Speaking after the Hampden win, he said: “At the start of the day that’s what we wanted to make sure of – that we were in the final. We played really well against Aberdeen, and got three goals, so we’re delighted and we’ll look forward to the final when it comes.

“For my goal, I struck the ball sweetly and it was great when it hit the back of the net. The first goal was important in the game and we kicked on from there, and we could have scored a few more as well.

“It’s unbelievable the amount of fans who turn up to cheer us on. They’re with us from start to finish and that really gives the players a boost, and for us to score three goals and put in a good performance was great for everyone involved with the club.

“Now that we’ve got the semi-final out the way, the manager will want the league wrapped up as quick as we can. We’ve got a hard game at Hibs this weekend, so we’re just going to take it one game at a time.”
