Tommy Johnson has refuted claims that he was offered the chance to return to Celtic in the summer.

Would you have liked to have seen Tommy Johnson return to Paradise?

Talking to PLZ Soccer, Johnson rejected reported claims that he had turned down an offer to rejoin Celtic, while talking up his relationship with Larsson.

The Scottish Daily Mail (via HITC) reported in late August that Johnson’s former teammate at Celtic, and current Hoops manager Neil Lennon, wanted to reunite at Celtic Park, with Lennon said to be keen on bringing Johnson onto his scouting team.

That he claims there was no offer works as a way to justify his decision to join Blackpool, even if it still seems like a rather left-field decision for him to have made.

Johnson had been set to join alongside fellow former Celtic men Henrikh Larsson and Johan Mjallby, although neither of those two ended up at Roots Hall either.

However nothing materialised and Johnson had looked set to join Southend United as head of recruitment, before changing course last minute and heading for Bloomfield Road.
