Former Celtic boss urges club to sign Premier League winger

Former Celtic manager Davie Hay has called for the club to re-sign winger Patrick Roberts from Manchester City this summer.

Roberts’ current City contract, as Hay mentioned, is up next summer, so the creative winger could be open to a third stint with the Hoops next season to reignite his career.

However, despite his poor loan spell in Spain, the Englishman did impress during his two loan spells at Celtic Park.

The winger hasn’t really hit the heights we all know that he is capable of in Girona on loan from Manchester City this season, but he did exceptionally well at Celtic in his spell up in Scotland and he is still young at 22.

Whether it would be a possibility or not I’m not sure, because he will be going into the final year of his contract with Manchester City, but he really enjoyed his time up here and I’m sure the player himself would be open to the possibility of a return.

And talking in his Evening Times column, former boss Hay admitted the club should consider making a move for the winger this summer.

The 22-year-old is currently on loan at La Liga side Girona from the Premier League giants.
