Former Celtic forward Simon Donnelly has responded to the Green Brigade’s message of support for Jackie McNamara.

The Green Brigade held a banner with the words “Keep the faith Jackie” aloft at Celtic Park on Wednesday during the win against Hearts, and were filmed chanting McNamara’s famous song, as the former Celtic captain continues his recovery from surgery (Daily Record).

Donnelly saw the footage on social media, and praised the fans for their support, stating how much it meant to McNamara’s family.

At times like this, it’s hugely important that supporters from multiple clubs come together to send messages of support to those involved.

And that is exactly what has happened with regards to McNamara and his family, with fans from various clubs sending their best wishes earlier this week.

The Green Brigade were also excellent with their response, using Celtic’s first match at home since McNamara’s admission to hospital to show just how much support the former Hoops captain and his family have.

Hopefully, McNamara will continue to make strides with his recovery and return to full health soon. As the Green Brigade said at Celtic Park, “Keep the faith Jackie.”
