Speaking to Football Insider, former Aberdeen striker Noel Whelan has praised Celtic’s transfer policy surrounding past key players in response to Arsenal’s reported interest in star attacker Odsonne Edouard.

Celtic fans, is it the end of the world if Edouard opts for a Premier League move?

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Edouard is being targeted by Arsenal regardless of whether current hitman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leaves in the summer.

They always seem to find that gem.” Indeed, with Premier League interest proving to be a real tractor beam for key Celtic men in the past, Whelan’s verdict could potentially spell a real positive in the form of the club’s past recruitment success.

However, even if Celtic do have to face the prospect of letting Edouard go, pundit Whelan insists it isn’t all doom and gloom considering their transfer policy.

“You look at Van Dijk and certain players that have come in and out of that football club and Celtic have got it right.

This season Edouard, who is valued at £13.5 million, has continued his fine goalscoring form, bagging 27 goals and 19 assists (Transfermarkt) – with his prolific nature enticing Mikel Arteta’s interest.
