Reece James of Chelsea scores his side's second goal during the Premier League win over Brighton at the Amex Stadium.

Photo: Richard Heathcote/Getty Images Jorginho, Reece James and Kurt Zouma hit the net to hand Frank Lampard's £200million Chelsea men a 3-1 Premier League victory at Brighton.

Chelsea seized on the reprieve and duly extended their lead courtesy of a slice of fortune, as Zouma's strike deflected heavily off Adam Webster to roll into the net past the wrong-footed Ryan.

Former Chelsea full-back Tariq Lamptey stood up well for Brighton and would have had an assist if only Neal Maupay could have connected fully with a teasing cross.

Leandro Trossard briefly had Brighton level, but Graham Potter's men were ultimately overwhelmed.

Germany striker Timo Werner proved the pick of the new arrivals, causing havoc with his stunning pace and incisive running lines.

The England Under-21s full-back's bullet finish was as eye-catching as it was timely, immediately digging the Blues out of that self-inflicted hole.
