Celtic are reportedly showing an interest in Hearts’ Uche Ikpeazu, but will face competition from the likes of Queens Park Rangers, Derby County and Bristol City if they pursue the striker, but a move for him may not be wise for the Hoops.

Reports from the Edinburgh Evening News, via West London Sport, have suggested Celtic are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old and a number of sides from the English Championship are also interested in him.

But a move for Ikpeazu may not be the wisest decision for Celtic.

If Celtic are in the market for a striker, then the Hoops must ensure they sign someone who is capable of finding the back of the net on a regular basis; something that Ikpeazu has struggled to do throughout his career.

According to stats on Transfermarkt, the 24-year-old has scored just 44 times in 209 career appearances during his respective spells in England and Scotland respectively.

And while Ikpeazu is a striker different to that of an out-and-out goalscorer, Celtic need somebody who is more of a potent threat to offer competition to the likes of Odsonne Edouard.
