According to the Daily Mail, though Hammond only joined the club for the summer transfer window, the former chief scout of West Bromwich Albion and Reading, respectively, has deployed a scout to cover South America.

So what does this mean for Celtic going forwards?

Celtic’s short-term recruitment specialist Nicky Hammond has reportedly sent a scout to South America, in an attempt to “revamp” the Hoops’ process of identifying new players.

Sending a scout to South America to report back on emerging young talent is certainly a positive, given the continent’s reputation for producing world class footballers, but the question still remains of what Celtic’s long-term strategy is.

The report suggests he has a plan to “revamp” Celtic’s recruitment process; something that has come under intense scrutiny recently, especially following Tuesday’s Champions League exit to CFR Cluj.
