Celtic look set to face competition from Serie A side Fiorentina in the race to sign Lech Poznan right-back Robert Gumny, so should Celtic step up their pursuit of the 21-year-old?

According to the Daily Record, the Italian outfit are ready to make a cash plus player offer for Gumny, with a fee in the region of €5million set to be submitted to the Polish side alongside defender Gilberto.

So are Celtic acting too slowly in their pursuit of the right-back?

While the rumours of Celtic’s interest in the £6million man only emerged over the last few days, competition from Fiorentina should certainly spark life into the Hoops’ pursuit.

However, Celtic have hardly acted with urgency with regards to new signings this summer, and the fact that a bid is yet to be made, or negotiations have not yet begun suggests a potential move for the right-back is still a fair way off at this stage.

That being said, given the result against CFR Cluj on Tuesday and the unrest amongst supporters regarding the lack of signings and recruitment, Celtic should look to fight off any competition in the 21-year-old and complete a deal as quickly as possible.

Should Celtic look to sign Gumny?
