Former Celtic striker Andy Walker has urged the club to “be honest with fans” about accepting Europa League football as an appropriate level, and reveal what the board’s ambitions going forwards are.

Despite the result against CFR Cluj in midweek, Celtic are capable of reaching the Champions League group stage year-on-year, and compete in the competition.

According to Inside Futbol, Walker told the Evening Times that he was confused as to why those at Celtic are happy to view the Europa League as the level they are at, instead of pushing for higher.

Do the board need to be clear with Celtic supporters about their ambitions?

Walker also pleaded for the board to be “honest” with the Hoops’ supporters about what their ambitions are.

But at least be honest with the fans and admit what your aims are.

If the lack of serious and well planned investment is a resignation from the board that they view Celtic as a club suited to the Europa League, rather than the Champions League, then that needs to be made clear.
