Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has shot down hopes of major spending this month, with the Northern Ireland coach unlikely to spend big.

The Hoops broke their transfer record on Odsonne Edouard from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer for £9million, and Rodgers isn’t expecting to be investing similar amounts this month.

Celtic have already signed Vakoun Issouf Bayo for £2million during this window, as well as having agreed loan moves for West Brom’s Oliver Burke and PSG’s Timothy Weah.

Speaking about Celtic’s plans to spend little more money this month, as reported by the Express, the former Liverpool manager said: Rodgers is, however, still in the market for more additions, and has recently been linked with a swoop for Olympiakos defender Omar Elabdellaoui and young American defender Manny Perez.

Talking about the potential for new additions, Rodgers continued saying: But bringing these guys in supports those already here and once we get the injured players back as well that gives us something to look forward to.
